Origin of Still-Standing

Our Story

Still Standing, Ken and Pete, grew up in Devon and even before leaving school were supporting major acts such as Free, Slade and Eric Clapton at Torquay Town Hall.

They then went North and worked the cabaret circuit and the Northern soul clubs like Wigan Casino with Tommy Hunt before joining Mungo Jerry for tours around Europe, Dubai and Africa. Working in Ray Dorset’s studio re-mastering many of his hits, plus engineering with Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) and Vincent Crane (Atomic rooster) gave them experience in production. It was with Ray Dorset in Mungo that they were first introduced to folk and original blues music, as the live gigs often included traditional songs. They then formed bands with acoustic and electric instruments with a wide spectrum of music, but always retaining their original love of a ‘good solid’ rhythm section.

The latest, and current, band has taken this approach as far as possible. A duo with Pete playing bass guitar and drums with his feet and Ken playing guitar, keyboards or banjo and harmonica. They both sing a wide range of material from originals through rock to traditional blues and folk all done with the concept of -

’A DUO WHO SOUND LIKE A BAND’

They are looking forward to seeing where this music will take them next..
